Getting Your Server Ready for Modpacks
So, before we install anything on the server, we need to make sure it’s ready for the modpack, since this is where a lot of people make an early error without realizing it.
Make a backup of the Minecraft world
If you want to keep your old world or even the entire server then you need to make a back up at this point. To just save a world, stop your server and make a backup. You can do this by going to the Files > Backup and then tapping on Start.
Once its finished you can download the file through your FTP acess. To do this from your main dashboard go to Files > FTP File Access > Login and then select the back up file (it will be the world name as a zip) for example “world.zip” Then click download to download it to your PC.
Make a full backup of the server.
FileZilla is required since internet FTP file access will struggle to handle so many files at once.
Connect to FileZilla using your multicraft FTP information for that specific server.
Simply select all the files on the server (from the right hand side) and drag them to a folder on your PC once connected (the left hand side) To preserve space on your computer until you need it again, we suggest compressing the folder into a.zip file.
Getting Rid of Old Server Files
The reason we erase old server files before installing a new kind of server is to avoid having to load the modpack with any messed up data. If you have a Java.16.5 jar and all the plugins from your previous server loaded and then load up a 1.12 modpack with mod directories and different libraries, the server is likely to fail.
Before removing any files, be sure your server is turned off.
FileZilla is a program that allows you to delete files (recommended)
FileZilla is the method we propose for deleting your previous server files before to installing the mod pack. Click here to see a video on how to use FileZilla.
Simply login to your server using your multicraft’s FTP File information and choose all of the files on the server. Simply press delete now, and your server will be empty in no time.
With FTP File Access, Delete Files
To delete your Minecraft server files with the online FTP access. From your multicraft dashboard go to Files > FTP File Access > Login. Now select All on the top left and the the Delete button to delete all server files.
Files Can Be Deleted Using Setup
The setup option is another approach to erase your server files. To do so, go to the multicraft dashboard Jar option and choose the modpack.
Once you have chosen the modpack you want to play go to Setup. To get here from your multicraft dashboard go to Files > Setup. Now from the drop down menu choose Configure Server For MOD. And check the Delete all Server Files underneath.
When you restart your server, it will erase the old files and configure it to work with the mod pack. The only reason I don’t advocate doing this first is because Multicraft sometimes have trouble deleting large files without timing out. As a result, regardless of how huge the files are, FileZilla is recommended for ease of use.
Modpacks may be installed on your Minecraft server.
Once your server is fully setup and you’ve taken any necessary backups. Now is the time to set up your Minecraft Modpack on your server.
Choose a Modpack
From the main multicraft dashboard you can now Choose a Modpack you want from the jar files. Once selected make sure to tap save at the bottom of the page.
From your multicraft dashboard, go to Files > Setup. Now from the drop down menu choose Configure Server For MOD.
After you’ve made your selection, return to the main dashboard and start your server.
If you wish to alter any of the server’s settings, you should do so before restarting the server.
